The majority of my work involves throwing on the wheel. I love the feel of the clay as it moves past my hands. After forming my pieces I enjoy playing with surfaces to evoke an organic feel. I try to incorporate natural textures by carving, impressing found elements, or using resists to create layers. A local pottery in Pensacola.
Most of my pieces are functional, although I enjoy forming some as specialties for the season. My work is slowing evolving as I recognize the interaction between utility, form, and textures.
By training I am a biologist. My science background has taught me to pay attention to the natural world. I find my greatest inspiration in being out in nature and finding that new shape or texture to incorporate into my next piece.
